Alcohol takes a LONG time to be eliminated from the body.If O.J had for example drunk a whole bottle of spirits it would take him 30 + hours to be sober, and to be safe on our roads.Only time removes alcohol from the body, so it is important everyone learns about U.O.A. and elimination reates.

It is very important for people who have Drink Driving convictions to get specialized treatment so they can learn about units of alcohol/alcohol use/abuseand/or alcoholism, so that they have less chance of repeated drink driving, or causing crashes.Well done to Herschelle for getting treatment.This in no way should lesson his sentence at the Courts,or allow him to get off the charges against him- but it will help to stop him drinking then driving in the future.

Please note in the UK and most Countries around the world,Licences are automatically cancelled for the serious crime of Drink Driving.
We should do the same in SA.Our National Road Traffic Act in fact says "Licences SHALL be suspended for a minimum period....
1st Offence --6 months / 2nd offence----5 years / 3rd or subsequent offence --- at least 10 years."
The Offender has to convince the Magistrate why he/she is allowed to drive.
SADD suggests the Magistrate orders the Offender to have an Alcohol Ignition Interlock fitted,and alcohol education and treatment. |
